Getting Rid of Damp

Many homes in the UK are exposed to a regular downpour of rain throughout the year; hence it is not a surprise that damp has become a main issue in many homes. Damp also causes serious health problems and can cause severe damage to your property which will in turn result in costly maintenance.

Rising damp which is caused by water seeping through walls and floors usually occurs when the damp proofing course has malfunctioned or not being placed at all. Symptoms include damp and cold walls and peeling off plaster. A simple solution would be to hire a damp proofing company and have a damp proofing course chemically injected. You can also level or lower the soil around the house.

Penetrating damp is caused mainly by plumbing issues while it mainly affects roofs, ceilings and walls. You can simply get rid of this issue by examining down pipes and gutters and make sure that they are all clear from debris.

Condensation which is caused by excessive moisture is mainly due to inadequate ventilation.  You can simply increase the ventilation is the room to get rid of the problem.
